Mitchell Farmer
Director "Mitch" Farmer brings decades of hands-on experience in faith-based outreach, food distribution, and youth support. Originally from McCrory, Arkansas, he has lived in Searcy for over 38 years, dedicating much of his life to church service and community care. Whether preparing communion, setting up tables, or helping feed 90 to 200 families per week through pantry programs, his work is rooted in compassion and gratitude for the blessings he’s received.
Farmer’s journey began in poverty, shaped by rural life alongside five brothers and two sisters on a farm where survival meant eating what you could catch. He moved to Searcy after securing a job at Eaton, where he worked for 29 years before being laid off. Despite facing age-based discrimination, being called names, and other obstacles, he stood firm in his values—refusing to return wrong with wrong and choosing love over conflict. His faith remains central, often calming tensions with a simple truth: "God loves you and I love you, too." Now retired, Farmer continues to serve at his church, rising at 5:30 a.m. every Sunday to attend both worship services and lead as head usher.
Though he didn’t graduate—his father needed him to work—he never accepted the negativity others tried to place on him. His life is a testament to resilience, humility, and the power of showing up. He believes deeply in mentoring youth, filling the gap left by absent fathers, and leading others “in the best way you know how.”
